Often people asked me, “Why Boudoir? Why do you have to take photos of women in underwear when they can look so beautiful in a fancy gown or a lovely outfit?”
While this is true, I have, can, and will take photos of women in beautiful outfits, there is something so raw about stripping down to the girl who is always there at the end of the day. The girl who is usually tucked up tightly, and hidden away under society promoted, shape enhancing layers. The girl who steps out of the shower and is faced with a mirror of deception that tells her the body she sees isn’t good enough. There is something so powerful about becoming vulnerable and bold enough to push through that desire to hate what you have and wish for something “better”. To expose and embrace every stretch mark, every scar, and every “imperfection” with love, kindness, and appreciation. A session without all the clothes, without all the inhibitions, and without all the negative self-defeating mental chatter is one of the most brave, scary, beautiful, and freeing moment of a woman’s life.
A Boudoir session is her way of saying, “I choose to love myself…just…as…I am.” I’m not just here to create beautiful imagery, but more importantly to empower women to step boldly into their journey of self-love.
